KENNY Jackett admits he is becoming increasingly fed up with speculation linking Millwall with a host of players.
Theo Robinson, James Henry and Crawley striker Charles Ademeno are just some of the names reported elsewhere as being potential Den targets.
Jackett accepts there is nothing he can do to stop inaccurate stories appearing but added it didn’t make his life any easier.
The manager said: “I’ve got to say it is frustrating because what it does is misleads our supporters.
“There is nothing I can do about it because it seems to be the way this club is.
“They love a rumour at Millwall and if there’s not one there currently, then it doesn’t stop them.
“It definitely doesn’t come from me because I never say anything until someone is here on the training ground.
“That’s the way it is and I think it is better for the supporters because things can happen at the last minute and a deal is never done until it is done.”
Jackett added: “Do I keep my eye on the market and know what is happening and where players are?
“I certainly try to because that is my job as a manager.
“We do work hard at scouting and trying to improve, but there are so many names and situations thrown out I do at times think it is misleading for our supporters.
“Sometimes it comes from agents trying to move people on who leak it.
“I generally understand speculation around the game is good and healthy because it shows people are interested, but the negative is it does mislead the fans.”
Millwall ended Norwich’s long unbeaten record on Saturday and are chasing their fourth straight win when they entertain Exeter this weekend.
However, Jackett has warned his side against complacency ahead of the Grecians clash.
He said: “Our lads trained very well and it hasn’t been any different this week.
“Exeter is our next challenge and it is another three points, although it is a totally different game from last week.
“They’ve drawn with MK Dons and Southampton in their last two games and our scout says Exeter could have won both of those matches but just didn’t have enough to finish them off.
“Underestimating the opposition isn’t something Millwall are in the business of doing.
“We may have Danny Schofield back by Saturday but Scott Barron played very well against Norwich last week.”
