MILLWALL manager Kenny Jackett has confirmed there were two League One rivals who wanted to snap up striker Jason Price on Monday.

The veteran striker eventually ended up joining Oldham on a one-month loan with Jackett’s blessing, but he could just as easily have linked up with Carlisle United.

The Den chief said: “I had phone calls on Monday morning from both Carlisle and Oldham.

“The fact Jason hasn’t been playing then makes me speak to the player and ask him what he wants to do, especially when someone comes in for him.

“I was happy for him to go out on loan anyway because he hasn’t been getting any games for us and it would be wrong to deny him once there were other clubs interested in securing his services.”

Jackett also revealed he does expect to bring in more fresh faces when the loan window opens next week.

He said: “We are always ongoing in terms of looking at players.

“If you are asking if we will sign any more players this season, I think the chances are we will.

“I would be surprised if we just stick with what we’ve got for the remainder of the season.

“We took two loan players in January in Liam Trotter and Shaun Batt and we are obviously now looking at more.”
