JAMES Henry has returned to Reading for fitness tests to discover if he can feature for Millwall against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Henry returned for a second loan spell with the Lions last week but limped off in the 2-0 defeat at Gillingham with a hamstring problem.
Manager Kenny Jackett has seen last season’s play-off finalists hit by an injury crisis of epic proportions and although he accepts it is highly unlikely Henry will feature against the Terriers, he hasn’t given up all hope yet.
He said: “James Henry hasn’t trained this week and admittedly it looks doubtful at the moment.
“I don’t know how long he is going to be out for but he has gone back to Reading for assessment, so I think today is quite a big day.
“Ashley Grimes got injured in the reserves and it is a big frustration for us to lose another player.
“Neil Harris came off at Gillingham but should be alright. We are waiting on Henry and Gary Alexander this morning, although at the moment I’m not hopeful.
“I wouldn’t completely rule them out at this stage, though.”
Millwall were booed off at Priestfield by their own fans after a disappointing display and will attempt to bounce back against a Huddersfield side who sit fourth in the table.
Jackett has been pleased with the response to the Gills defeat on the training pitch and is challenging them to make amends on Saturday.
He said: “Huddersfield have done very well and added to what was already a strong squad.
“They will be a force in this division, so we know it is going to be a hard game for us.
“Where we are at the moment is we’ve been rocked a little bit and we need to make sure we come back.
“We need to come back on Saturday with a good performance at home.
“The players have a good hunger and desire to put the Gillingham result behind them. “We know by our own standards last week wasn’t what we were looking for, so we are desperate to come back against Huddersfield on Saturday.”
Jackett confirmed to News Shopper the Lions had now ended their interest in Plymouth defender Krisztian Timarare and added there will be new fresh faces coming in before the Huddersfield clash.
“Darren Ward has joined, so the Timarare one is a no,” he said.
“There won’t be any more loan deals before the weekend.
“We are always looking to strengthen but if you are asking me is there something imminent I would say no.”
