CHARLTON have told Gillingham they can have Chris Dickson – but only if the Kent side part with one of their own strikers.
Gills boss Mark Stimson has been chasing Dickson throughout the close season but the Addicks have snubbed every approach to date.
However, Valley chief Phil Parkinson today conceded Charlton may let Dickson go if their League One rivals are prepared to do a swap deal involving an unnamed striker.
Parkinson said: “Gilingham have been talking to us all summer about Chris and we keep saying to them that he isn’t going there.
“We’ve now said to them he can go there if they give us one of their players in exchange, one of their strikers.
“I won’t give you a name but you might be able to guess.
“I’ve said to their manager you can have Chris if he wants to come to you, but we would like X player in part exchange.
“If that deal is going to happen then that will have to happen first.
“And if it doesn’t happen then Chris isn’t going to go there.”
