BARNSLEY have been warned they will have to make a more substantial offer if they are to land Charlton striker Andy Gray.
The Tykes have been chasing the former Burnley hitman for some time but risk losing out unless they up their bid according to Addicks boss Phil Parkinson.
He said: “Barnsley have been talking to us all summer about Andy Gray but at the moment the deal just doesn’t add up and it is nowhere near the valuation we’ve got of the player.
“Andy played for a lot of last year with a stress fracture of his back, he is now fit but has only played 50 minutes in seven months.
“He looks good and has trained well.
“It is like any player, though. If the price is right and the chairman and the board decide that suits them then I’m sure it will be a different conversation.
“But at the moment, the right deal or right money hasn’t happened for us.”
