MILLWALL manager Kenny Jackett has told News Shopper TV his attempts to sign Plymouth defender Mathias Doumbe are proving harder than he initially thought.
The Lions boss revealed after Saturday’s 1-1 friendly with Middlesbrough he was hoping for a quick resolution to the deal.
And although the move is very much still on, Jackett admitted it has so far taken longer than expected.
The manager said: “He had a trial game with us. We are trying to sort something out this week but I’ve got to say at the moment it is proving very difficult.”
Jackett also said Zak Whitbread remains very much on board at The Den after the defender snubbed an opportunity to join Peterborough United.
“Zak has turned that down in terms of it not being the right move for him, so he is still with us,” the boss explained.
“He hasn’t done any training with us yet, which is a frustration because he is injured currently, but his contractual situation is as it was.”
