PHIL Parkinson seems resigned to losing Jon Fortune after the defender went on trial at Sheffield United last week.

The Addicks offered the centre half a new deal during the summer but the player turned it down and it now looks increasingly likely he will leave, with the Blades strong favourites to land him.

Parky said: “We haven’t been able to offer Jon a contract to the level that he would have liked, so he’s taken the opportunity to go and train at Sheffield United, which he’s entitled to do.

“If they offer him a contract before we’re able to do that, then good luck to Jon and we’ll have to move on.”

Parkinson also admitted Izale McLeod may be about to join SPL outfit Hearts, despite the player being on the bench in last night’s 2-1 pre-season victory over Ipswich.

“There’s been interest from Hearts for Izale and we need to sit down with him and consider that in due course.”
