MILLWALL manager Kenny Jackett has told News Shopper he is expecting to complete the signing of midfielder Adam Bolder from QPR on a free transfer.

Bolder was at the Lions’ training ground this morning for talks and Jackett is hopeful he will be available for the important clash against promotion rivals Scunthorpe on Saturday.

The 28-year-old impressed Jackett during his loan spell at the The Den earlier in the season before being called back to Loftus Road briefly.

Jackett always maintained he would like to bring Bolder back and today’s news is a major boost to the Lions’ promotion hopes.

He said: “We are hoping to sign Adam Bolder today on a permanent deal.

“It is all agreed and he is around the training ground today.

“He is a midfield player and had been on loan with us earlier in the season but went back to Q.P.R two or three weeks ago.

“They have given him a free transfer, so he is coming in on a free today.

“We will use the same squad which was at Hereford, but perhaps with Bolder added too.”

The Lions boss also stated his desire to bring back Tresor Kandol from Leeds United on loan, but added he wasn’t prepared to pay a transfer fee for the striker.

He explained: “We were keen to keep Tresor Kandol on loan but Leeds United have said no.

“At the moment, I presume he has gone back to Leeds.

“If Leeds want to loan him again we would be interested in talking but in terms of purchasing him, which is the option at the moment, we are not looking to do that.

“We have taken Izale Mcleod on loan and we will have to see how the people we have do.”

Tuesday’s 2-0 win at Hereford was a welcome tonic after the disappointment of the FA Cup exit to Premiership Hull and Jackett underlined the importance of returning the club’s focus to the promotion race as quickly as possible.

He said: “Hereford was a great win and I thought it was a good performance.

“I wondered where and when the goals would come but generally we were on top. “It keeps us in touch and in pace with the teams around us.

“In professional football you always have to win your next game and after Hull we needed to get back to the league very quickly because obviously going out of the cup, we didn't need that to carry over into the league.

“It was disappointing to go out of the cup, but I wouldn't say I was expecting to win or cause an upset.

“To some degree we were quite close but it wasn't to be.”

He added: “I think, perhaps, that this side could have gone further but we needed the breaks on the day.

“There were a couple of big moments when Hull keeper Tony Warner dropped one but we couldn't capitalise on it.

“You need those things to go for you. Marc Laird probably had the best chance of the first half but it just went wide and with those ones you just need a bit of the rub of the green if you are going to overcome a Premier League side away from home.

“One way of looking at it is that we can focus on promotion, it gives us a single aim and it is the most important aim anyway.

“The league is more important. Everybody says it but it's true.

“I wouldn't say going out of the cup is a blessing, i'm not like that, but we focus on the league very quickly now.”

Next up are promotion rivals Scunthorpe and Jackett goes into the clash in determined mood with a full squad to choose from.

The manager believes the run-in will be tight and meetings with promotion rivals add a bit more spice, although collecting three points remains his number one target.

He added: “The Scunthorpe game is three points, as was Hereford.

“We are in a promotion race, it is exciting for the supporters so maybe that gives the game an edge because you can see the direct competition against somebody close to you in the league.”
