Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised Daniel Munoz’s character after the Colombian put missed opportunities aside to score a last-gasp equaliser against Newcastle.

Two golden chances fell to Munoz at Selhurst Park. In the first half, he sprayed what looked to be a certain goal wide. Then, after the Eagles fell behind, Dan Burn made a remarkable goal-line clearance to deny the wing-back a leveller.

Palace had to wait patiently to reap the rewards of a strong performance, with Munoz eventually claiming redemption for his earlier miss - putting a 94th-minute header past Nick Pope.

Glasner admitted that Munoz could have scored a hat-trick against the Magpies.

I said to Danny, you usually would take the ball home today after scoring a hat-trick,” Glasner conveyed to the News Shopper. “The first one - he knows it.

“The situation when I see how we defended the set play [in the build-up to the miss] and how we played from the edge of the box to create the [missed] chance was just fantastic.

"It shows how we performed today in many situations. The miss, maybe it was his easiest chance.

“The second one was also a great opportunity - credit to Burn with the save on the goal line.

“He scored the most difficult chance. This shows his character, the character of the team and the character of all of us.

"We always keep going and always believe in ourselves and that we can score a goal. It was mentally a very tough game today, you know, missing chances and all of a sudden, you are 1-0 down, which is mentally very tough.”
