Following four points and a cup win in the space of six days, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner applauded the resilience of his side.

Before beating Tottenham just under a fortnight ago, the Eagles had failed to record a win in their first eight league matches.

Despite the worry of being winless in eight, perhaps the biggest concern was the manner of the results.

Both Palace entries into the penalty area and shots from inside the box had taken a dramatic downturn from last season, leaving all involved at Selhurst Park extremely frustrated.

Throughout Palace's rough patch, Glasner's analysis was consistent, acknowledging his team had to take more risks for the goals and results to follow.

Although there is still worry in South London, especially with the injuries plaguing the squad, a gargantuan week - including two trips to the Midlands - has been crucial in boosting the morale of the squad.

Assessing how Crystal Palace have managed to pick up their form, Glasner highlighted that his side have become more fearless in attack, emphasised through the drop-off in passing accuracy.

"We talked about going more direct into the box," Glasner told the News Shopper.

"It’s sometimes funny, there's the positive stats, but what we also could see is that the passing accuracy reduced because we took more risk.

"It's not difficult to have 85% if you always pass back, but now we go more risk playing forward and playing into the box.

"Maybe sometimes you miss your teammate, but we can make the runs now, this is the intensity.

"We make the runs in behind, make the runs into the box and we bring the ball in.

"When we see how we got the corner [to score against Aston Villa], we played back to Marc, who as a centre-half delivered the cross into the box. We had three players on the far post and then we got the corner and got the goal.

"We are playing more directly into the box."

The Eagles seek to extend their unbeaten run to four, facing Fulham at Selhurst Park tomorrow.
