Crystal Palace midfielder Naouirou Ahamada has joined Stade Rennes on a season-long loan.

Ahamada signed for Palace under Patrick Vieria in January 2023 on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

His stay in South London has been inauspicious, playing just 417 minutes of football.

The move back to his native France provides Ahamada with an opportunity to gain much-needed game time after the 22-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Oliver Glasner.

DEADLINE DAY LATEST

Earlier this month, Glasner said: “Ahamada has been here now for more than two years, and he didn’t have as many minutes as he needs for his age.

“We spoke together, and he thinks it will be good for him to get more minutes. It’s very difficult with all the competition for his position to get minutes here.”

Stade Rennes hold a £6.7m option to buy for Ahamada - a £3.9m loss on the £10.6m Palace paid for the midfielder 18 months ago.
