With only six more Premier League games to go for Crystal Palace and safety all but secured, the rest of this season is now all about building for next season.
A mixed start for Oliver Glasner had left some fans questioning where the club were going, however last week’s memorable win at Anfield shows just what the manager can do for Palace.
A 21-pass move led to Eberechi Eze’s opener at the weekend, where he found space on the edge of the six-yard box to slot home what turned out to be the winner.
At times the Eagles may have ridden their luck at Anfield, with glaring opportunities being missed, such as Curtis Jones’ one on one or Virgil van Dijk hitting the crossbar.
However, defensively they were fantastic overall. Tyrick Mitchell and Nathaniel Clyne both made last ditch blocks to stop Liverpool from scoring.
This was something Palace had clearly prepared for before the match, as they sat deep, but rarely allowed Liverpool to get in behind their defence, most of the time having a player to block any shot that Liverpool took.
Even with the 1-0 lead at title-chasing Liverpool, Palace still looked to be a threat on the break.
Jean Phillipe Mateta was only a goal line clearance from Andy Robertson away from giving Palace a 2-0 lead in the first half.
And he had another fantastic chance from a free kick delivered into the box, when the ball fell to him in the six yard box, however his shot was saved by Alisson.
But now with just six games left, and eight points above the drop zone, Palace can look to build on that win for next season.
That was the first game under Glasner that both Eze and Michael Olise had started together, and with players such as Cheick Doucoure and Marc Guehi to come into the team, all of a sudden, this Palace XI is starting to look very promising.

Olise’s future is in doubt with Europe's elite clubs circling and a potential transfer fee of around £60m is being talked about.
But if Palace were to sell then the incoming transfer fee, along with money the club are willing to spend, the right recruitment could see Palace with a team capable of top half finish next season.
Top of the list of any incoming signings should be another centre back, a clinical striker, and also a replacement for Olise if he is to move on.
The last six games of the season should be used to get Palace players perfectly tuned into the style that Glasner wants to adopt, and even if the results for the rest of this season are not perfect, they need to focus and plan for next season.
