Sundridge Park superkid scores first 7-baller

Patel is showing great promise, with this total clearance surely being the first of many and he is definitely one to keep an eye on for the future. 

Kieran Corbett equalised, but Elise Norris and Dave Sparey won the next two frames to give Sundridge Park the set. 

Keith Allen, Alex Hodinitu, and Danny Whitewood won the next three frames for White Hart, sneaking them into the lead, 4-3. 

The next two frames were shared, giving White Hart the set, before Sparey took frame ten to tie the match at one set and five frames all. 

Paul Martin swung the match back in Sundridge Park’s favour, with his unbeaten brace and young Patel won his second frame of the night to put them on the hill. 

Sparey won the match with his hat-trick and Simon McEvily made it five in a row for Sundridge Park. 

The set whitewash was completed by Andrew Slater, who won both his frames to give his team the 10-5 triumph. 

Sundridge Park remain in sixth place, but they have now broken through 100 points with just two matches remaining. 

White Hart are still winless at the bottom however they have reduced the gap between them and Plough & Harrow to just two points, after they lost, 11-4 to The Con Men, and the bottom two play each other next week. 

Con Men stay in second, but they reduce the gap on the league leaders, Eltham Terrace Tigers to seven points, as they didn’t have a game this week. 

Farmhouse were seven points below Con Men in third and they visited Bexleyheath Raiders, four places and 25 points below them, but it wasn’t a good day for Farmhouse, losing 9-6 and dropping one place. 

Leapfrogging Farmhouse are Goodfellows after they just edged the local derby with Hurricanes Reborn, 8-7. 

These two teams were fourth and fifth with just one point between them, so this promised to be a close match, and it didn’t disappoint. 

Phoebe French continued her good form from winning the Ladies Singles, by getting Hurricanes off the mark in the opening frame. 

The set then swung back and forth, but Arif Salih and Ben Walsh gave Hurricanes the set, 3-2. 

The second set followed a similar pattern, with Luke Knight winning his first frame of the night, and he was joined by Phoebe and Salih to make the score, 6-4. 

Salih completed his hat-trick to put Hurricanes on the hill, but they let it slip as Goodfellows took the last four frames to steal the win. 

As promised it was a tight affair, with Goodfellows’ Nirman Bogati joining Salih as the only hat-trick heroes. 

The top three in this division have all won twelve matches, but are separated by 18 points, and the next two teams are only one and two points behind them, so with two weeks to go the competition for the three promotion places is fierce. 

It was top versus bottom in SLKPA Division One, as Duke of Northumberland visited Bell Ya Later, and despite losing the first frame of the night, Duke forged ahead to lead, 4-1 at the end of the first set.  

They continued that form into the second set recording a whitewash to extend the score to, 9-1 winning the match before the end of the second set.  

That was increased to, 11-1 making it eleven in a row for Duke, before Paul Thomas stopped the rot to win his second frame, as well as his team’s second of the night.  

Phil Tworek won the final frame of the evening to complete his hat-trick and make the final score, 13-2 to Duke.  

Dave Pearce and Sam Kinsville joined Tworek in recording hat-tricks on the night.

Bears have been hot on the heels of Duke most of the season and were eight points behind them as they went to third placed Cue-ologists this week.

The home side were just three points behind their opponents however, they made this up with a, 9-6 triumph to join Bears on 138 points, although Bears are above them by just one more victory. 

Despite this result both teams dropped one place as Downham Tavern Terrors, who were one point behind Cue-Ologists and four behind Bears, beat New Eltham New Boys, 13-2 to jump into second place, three points ahead of the other two teams, and twelve points behind the league leaders. 

New Boys drop one place as, although Academicals lost to Bellegrove Flyers, they leapfrog New Boys by one point. 

The first four frames were shared, before Flyers Captain, Jay Arnold won the deciding frame to give his team a, 3-2 first set lead. 

Both teams picked the same players in the same positions for the second set and although Academicals won the first two frames to nudge themselves into the lead, Flyers won the next three frames to take the set and extend their lead to, 6-4. 

This included a fantastic clearance by Flyers’ Mark Porter, where he potted his last red and developed the black, which was covered by two yellows, making it potable, which he did for the frame. 

The third set followed the pattern of the previous two, with Flyers taking it, 3-2 for an overall victory by nine fames to six. 

Both teams had one player who won all three of their frames, and it just so happened to be the two captains, Arnold for Flyers, and Academicals’ Gary Mason. 

Flyers stay in fifth, one place ahead of Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, who hosted Blackheath Sports Club this week. 

There was only nine points and three places between Rack Pack and Blackheath, so this game promised to be close. 

It didn’t disappoint as the first set went one way then the other, before Blackheath Captain, Kerry Wyatt won the set deciding frame. 

Joe Kane and Mel Barnes won the first two frames of the second set to give Blackheath a, 5-2 lead however, James Shovelar, Tony Frost and Mark Simnett won the next three frames to give Rack Pack the set and tie the match at five frames all. 

All square going into the final set, but Rack Pack turned on the style and won all five frames, making it eight in a row for a, 10-5 triumph. 

Rack Pack had two unbeaten players, Shovelar who won both his frames and Frost, who went one better with a hat-trick. 

Terrors were arguably the biggest winners of the week in this division, propelling themselves into the second promotion spot however, with two games to go there will be a fight to keep it, with Bears and Cue-Ologists three points behind, so one will be promoted, one will finish in the play-off spot, and one will totally miss out. 

At the bottom Academicals heave themselves out of the relegation zone, but again there will be a fight to avoid the drop, as only six points separate them from the two teams below, New Boys and Blackheath. 

After their first defeat of the season last week, the Premier Division leaders, Hotshots were looking to get back to winning ways, and they had an ideal opportunity, travelling to Falconwood Club, seven places and 55 points below them. 

Tony Gear and Richard Chapman got them off to a good start, winning the opening two frames, before Paul Baker pulled one back for Falconwood. 

Tony Wilson and Danny Kelliher won the last two frames of the set, giving Hotshots a, 4-1 lead.

Gear made that, 5-1 before Akar Necati pulled another back. 

Wilson and Chapman put Hotshots on the hill, but Luke Matthews prevented them from winning the match before the third set however, Gear took frame eleven for his hat-trick to give Hotshots victory. 

Jamie White and Necati won the next two frames, making the score a bit more respectable at, 8-5.

Wilson won his third frame of the night, before Matthews took the fifteenth for a final score of, 9-6 a great result for Falconwood, considering the distance between the teams in the table.  

Last week Sharks leapfrogged Rugrats into second place, and as Rugrats didn’t have a game this week, it was a great opportunity for Sharks to pull away and increase their grip on the runners up spot with two games to go. 

Sharks faced New Eltham New Stars this week with five places and 33 points between them, and this game went true to form, with Sharks winning, 10-5 to go 13 points ahead of Rugrats and 23 points behind Hotshots. 

New Stars are now hovering just two points above the relegation play-off place, currently occupied by Falconwood however, it looks like Bellegrove A are facing the drop, as they are now 17 points below Falconwood, with two games to go, after they lost their derby match with Bellegrove, 12-3. 

Bellegrove stay in fourth, ahead of both Eltham Terrace Nuthouse and Pickwick, who faced each other this week. 

These two teams couldn’t have been closer going into this match, both locked on 90 points however, Nuthouse were above by one more win, although Pickwick had played one less match. 

Pickwick had much the better start with Dave Pile, Jamie Davis, Paul Gafa, and Louis Wilbourne winning the first four frames, before Leighton Aston prevented the set whitewash. 

Nuthouse were going to find it difficult to come back from this, but Paul Doherty made a great start with a break and dish in frame six however, Davis and Gafa won the next two frames for a, 6-2 lead. 

Aston scored an unbeaten brace and Trevor Biggs won frame ten to give Nuthouse the set and pull the score back to, 6-4. 

Paul Slater put Pickwick on the hill, before Davis won the match for Pickwick, with a break and dish for his hat-trick. 

Doherty recorded his second win of two, but the last two frames went to Pickwick, including a hat-trick from Gafa for a, 10-5 triumph. 

This result meant that Pickwick hit 100 points to leapfrog Nuthouse by five points. 

With most teams having two matches left it looks as though Hotshots are champions elect, as they are 23 points clear at the top and Bellegrove A are destined for relegation, 17 points away from the play-off spot and 19 away from safety.
