Falconwood forge second victory of season

Bellegrove were three places and eleven points ahead of Falconwood going into this match, but the gap between the teams was much closer than this. 

The first two frames were shared, but Akar Necati and Naftali Ayieko won the next two frames to give Faconwood the first set. 

Dan Heinink won two frames in a row, making the score three all and the next four frames were also shared, keeping the scores level at five all going into the final set. 

Ian Stringer and Jamie White took the first two frames of the last set to put Falconwood on the hill. 

Peter Whyte won the thirteenth to stop Falconwood from winning the match, but that was short lived, as Necati took the penultimate frame for his third frame win of the night. 

Heinink also completed his hat-trick to make the final score, 8-7 in Falconwood’s favour. 

Despite the loss Bellegrove went up two places to fourth and Falconwood lifted themselves off the bottom, as Bellegrove A went down to the in-form Rugrats. 

Ashley Hewson, Dylan Suggars and Shane O’Reilly won the first three frames to give Rugrats the first set, before Joe Hills prevented the set whitewash. 

The same three players won the first three frames of the second set to record four in a row and put them on the hill. 

Hills and Petrina Pearce took frames nine and ten to prevent Rugrats from completing the win before the end of the second set, but Hewson completed his hat-trick in frame eleven, giving Rugrats the victory. 

Jack Taylor pulled the score back to, 8-4, before Rugrats took the last three frames for an, 11-4 triumph. 

Rugrats had a hat-trick of hat-trick heroes with Suggars and O’Reilly joining Hewson on three frame wins. 

Bellegrove are now bottom of the table three points behind Falconwood and Rugrats go up to third as New Eltham New Stars didn’t have a game. 

Sharks stay in second, five points ahead of Rugrats after a, 10-5 triumph over Eltham Terrace Nuthouse, who remain in seventh, five points ahead of Falconwood. 

Hotshots extend their lead at the top to twelve points after their comprehensive victory over Pickwick. 

There were four places and 21 points between these teams and Hotshots proved to be too hot for Pickwick, winning each set, 4-1. 

Jamie Davis won frame two with a break and dish to level the score, but Ryan Francis did the same in the third frame to put Hotshots back in the lead, before Elliott Giles won the set. 

Joe Kelly, Tony Gear and Francis won the first three frames of the second set, making it six on the spin to give Hotshots the set and put them on the hill. 

Enis Dogangun prevented the set whitewash, before Danny Kelliher won the match before the start of the last set. 

Davis won his second frame to pull it back to, 8-3 but Hotshots were not letting up, winning the last four frames for an overall, 12-3 triumph. 

Despite the large margin of victory, Kelliher and Francis were the only ones to win all three of their frames. 

Pickwick only drop one place to sixth and are three points behind New Stars and two ahead of Nuthouse. 

Cue-Ologists and Bears were sitting equal second in SLKPA Division One with a five/two win/loss record. 

Bears travelled to Eltham Terrace Rack Pack and came away with a, 10-5 victory, so Cue-Ologists had to do better than that to hold onto second place. 

They hosted Downham Tavern Terrors, who were two points behind them in fourth and on the same win/loss record however, this was not a close game with Cue-Ologists winning, 12-3 to hold onto second place and Terrors drop to fifth as a result. 

Duke of Northumberland travelled to New Eltham New Boys and were looking to push on after hitting the top spot for the first time this season last week, and they started well, winning the first set 4-1.  

After extending that to 5-1, New Boys fought back, winning three of the next four to close the score to 6-4 at the end of the second set.  

However, Duke dominated the last set, winning all five frames to end with an, 11-4 victory.  

They stayed top of the table, but their lead was reduced to two points, whereas New Boys drop to ninth two points ahead of Blackheath Sports Club. 

Blackheath were winless at the bottom, and they went to Academicals, who only had one more win going into this match, but there were three places and six points between the two. 

Academicals had the better start with Paul Donohoe and Gary Mason winning the first two frames. 

Mel Barnes and Joe Kane took the next two frames to send the set into a deciding frame, which Kerry Wyatt won to give Blackheath the first set, 3-2. 

Barnes made it, 4-2 however, Dean Williams and Chris Gaunt tied the match at, 4-4. 

Kane took frame nine to tie the set and nudge Blackheath back into the lead. 

This time the set deciding frame went to Greg Phillimore to make the match all square again. 

Phillimore made it two in a row, before Mason and Donohoe won the next two frames to give Academicals the match. 

The last two frames went to Blackheath, making the final score, 8-7. 

Although Blackheath remain without a win, their shining light was Kane winning all three of his frames to keep them within seven points of their opponents and safety. 

Bell Ya Later are now four points ahead of Blackheath after losing, 9-6 to Bellegrove Flyers, who go into fourth, four points behind Bears. 

Eltham Terrace Tigers were unbeaten at the top of SLKPA Division Two, seven points and three places ahead of this week’s opponents, Goodfellows. 

Unfortunately for Tigers they lost their 100% record in this topsy turvy match. 

Gurpal Cheema opened Goodfellows account and Shelton D’Costa secured the first set, 3 2. 

Tigers got into top gear in the second set winning all five frames to go, 7-3 up. 

However, the wheels fell off the Tigers’ bus in the last set, with Goodfellows repeating Tigers feat from the previous set, giving Goodfellows the, 8-7 victory.

Goodfellows go up to third with The Con Men sandwiched between them and Tigers, after they beat Bexleyheath Raiders, 10-5, with Farmhouse dropping from second to fourth as they had no game. 

Sixth played fifth as Sundridge Park Working Men’s Club hosted Hurricanes Reborn with just three points between them. 

Hurricanes had the better start with the in-form Arif Salih taking the opener however, Dave Sparey won an excellent tactical frame to level the score. 

Hurricanes kicked on with Charles and Phoebe French and Luke Knight all winning to give them a, 4-1 lead. 

Michelle Brown made it, 5-1 with a well thought out frame, but Sundridge Park won the next to level the set. 

Salih and Charles French won their second frames of the night to put Hurricanes on the hill at, 7-2 before the end of the second set. 

Sundridge Park put three frames together to bring it back to, 7-5 but Hurricanes Captain, Kevin England held his nerve to give his team the match.

Sundridge Park won the next frame before Salih finished the match in style to give his team a well-earned, 9-6 victory. 

It was a great team effort by Hurricanes, but the stars of the show were Charles French with an unbeaten brace and Salih making it back-to-back hat-tricks to extend the lead over their opponents in the table to six points. 

The bottom two played each other as White Hart travelled to Plough & Harrow with just one point between them, but this match proved to be nowhere near as close as that with Plough winning, 11-4 to leave their opponents winless at the bottom and leapfrog Raiders by two points.
