Crystal Palace have been forced into putting their footballing project to one side and prioritise staying in the Premier league.
When Roy Hodgson was announced as the new Palace manager, it was the decision of a club that had decided that they needed stability and experience to navigate a tricky climax to the season - with just 10 games remaining there is a gap of only four points between the Eagles and the bottom of the league.
This does, however, pose a few questions to the younger players in the squad about where the club is heading and whether this summer is the time to make a progressive move. Palace are still at a crossroads while they sit in 12th. They have the potential to build into a side competing for Europe, but are equally at risk of relegation.
So what are some of the most interesting transfer questions coming out of Selhurst Park?

Will Palace be able to fend off Tottenham’s interest in Marc Guehi?
The England international has built up a reputation as one of the most talented central defenders in England since his move from Chelsea to Palace. Gareth Southgate seems to rate him as the next-best to the established John Stones and Harry Maguire, despite missing out on the World Cup squad.
This week it was reported that Spurs, who are likely to enter a transition period of their own after ending their toxic relationship with manager Antonio Conte, were interested in making a summer move for the Palace defender.
This could make even more sense for Tottenham if Palace are to be relegated, as they could secure his services at a cut price.
Is Barcelona outcast, Sergiño Dest, the answer to Palace’s aging stocks at right-back?
Of late the right-back position has been filled by Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward, who are 31 and 33 respectively. This signals the need for a refresh in that area and the Eagles have been linked with USA international Sergiño Dest.
Dest is on loan from Barcelona at AC Milan, but noises coming out of Italy suggest that deal will not be made permanent. Palace will face competition from other Premier League clubs, such as Manchester United and West Ham as well as Union Berlin.
United and Berlin are likely to be able to offer Champions League football, which could be a telling factor.
Whether it is Dest or another target, there is an expectation that Palace to be in the market for a defender to fill the right-back role this summer.
Might Odsonne Edouard look to escape his bad form with a move away?
By his own admission, the former Celtic forward has not been consistent at Crystal Palace and pressure is starting to mount for him to find some form. He was prolific in Scotland, scoring 87 goals in 179 appearances, which made the £14 million price tag seem like a bargain.
But the striker has only scored only 11 times since his move to London and typifies a side struggling for goals.
The final ten games of this season will be make or break for Edouard and his Crystal Palace career.
