GARY ROWETT has admitted that he does not read speculation surrounding him and is focused on improving Millwall.
The 48-year-old was recently linked with the job at Watford, however, it was subsequently given to former Forest Green Rovers manager Rob Edwards who will take over from Roy Hodgson in the summer.
Rowett led Millwall to within one match of the playoffs in the recent campaign, though the club would finish 9th in the Championship.
The manager however has revealed he is not interested in fueling speculation over his future. Rowett has already suggested that he aiming for a high finish next season with Millwall.
Speaking to News at Den, Rowett said: “I don’t read that sort of speculation.
“I was once told I was 1/5 for a job and I hadn’t even spoken to the club.
“It just shows you a lot of these things are generated and I think if you end up having to come out and defend yourself on a rumour that’s got no substance, you’d be doing it quite a lot.
“I’ve worked incredibly hard for three years.
“My focus is on trying to make the team better and trying to push forward and finish higher up the table.
“The rest is not really important to me.”
