LIONS reported loan target Elliot Anderson is set to be assessed by Newcastle manager Eddie Howe before his future is decided.

The 19-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Bristol Rovers as he helped the club finish 3rd in League Two.

Anderson, an attacking midfielder, made 21 appearances scoring eight goals and assisting five more during the second half of the season.

Millwall are reportedly bringing Anderson to The Den on a loan deal next season, according to the South London Press.

However, Howe has admitted that he wants to take a "close look" at the player before making a decision on his future.

Howe told BBC Sport Bristol: “What an experience for him, and one he’ll always remember very fondly, hopefully at the end of a very successful career.

“We’ll certainly bring him back for pre-season. I’ll have a close look at him. He’ll be involved in pre-season games.

“We’ll make a decision then on whether he needs another loan, or whether he’s going to stay with us.

“We’re very pleased for him. He was desperate to go and play, and have that experience on loan.

“I’ve said many times that we didn’t initially want to pitch him into League Two, because we felt that he was better than that level but, due to one reason or another, that was the level he ended up at.

“He’s excelled. It’s difficult, as a young player, to go out and really make a difference, but he’s done that and made an incredible difference to Bristol Rovers. It was a dramatic final day and credit to Joey, his team and Elliot.”

If Elliot joined Millwall he could be able to help replace attacker Jed Wallace who is set to leave the club when his contract expires, if he is able to convert his form from League Two into the Championship.
