PALACE are one of three teams that are reportedly interested in making a bid for Ajax’s Edson Alvarez.
Patrick Vieira's side are yet to make a move in the January transfer window, but that could be about to change as the club have been reported to be scouting the 24-year-old defensive midfielder.
Alvarez is also able to play as a centre-back and could be a useful utility player for Patrick Vieira as he looks to solidify the defence.
According to Football Insider, Palace are battling with Leicester City and Chelsea for the player's signature.
Vieira could have an edge on the others as the player would be more likely guaranteed play time as well as part of the Frenchman's so far impressive project at Selhurst Park.
The Mexican with Champions League experience would be an upgrade on the current options of Cheikhou Kouyaté and Luka Milivojević.
Palace are still being linked with a move for Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah, however, if a move does happen it will likely be at the end of the transfer window.
