Gary Rowett said his side's lack of quality was the reason that Millwall failed to make it four wins in a row for the first time since April 2018, as they were held to a stalemate at the Den.
Despite looking comfortable against a poor Wycombe side, the Lions struggled in the final third.
After the game, Rowett said, ‘It was a game where we had most of the control, we had about 65% of the possession.
‘We passed the ball better than we did against Birmingham. Wycombe didn’t really trouble us other than the odd set-piece but we couldn’t convert that into enough chances on goal.
‘Our quality in the final third was poor today. We huffed and puffed, we just couldn’t convert enough of the good play and the moments in the final third into an opportunity on goal.’
It’s a familiar issue for the Lions boss, whose side notched their 15th draw of the season. A lack of chance creation and conversion had been the tale in the majority of those games.
Rowett’s job had undoubtedly been made harder by the injuries his side have racked up.
Connor Mahoney, Ken Zohore and Ryan Leonard were amongst those who were sidelined who could have assisted in the final third.
Rowett continued, ‘That was the frustration. I wondered whether we needed to make changes today but because of the injuries we’ve got to the squad, it was difficult.
‘You saw our bench; it was really difficult to change it effectively.’
Despite the frustration, Millwall’s unbeaten run stretched to eight games, something that gives the side a good platform to continue their climb up the table.
Rowett added, ‘Four wins and four draws, it’s another clean sheet. I thought today might be the sort of banana skin game that might undo us on such a good run.
‘I’m disappointed with the quality but I’m not overly disappointed with a point.’
