Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley has praised Karlan Grant following his impressive-two goal performance against his former club.
The striker, who made the switch from Charlton to Huddersfield in January last year, forced Deji Oshilaja into a mistake to drill home after 25 minutes.
Steve Mounie doubled the Terriers’ lead shortly after coming off the bench before substitute Juninho Bacuna teed up Grant for a close-range finish two minutes from time.
Grant has been a star signing for the Terriers and his brace against the Addicks means he is joint-third with Jarrod Bowen and Lewis Grabban in the Championship’s top scorers chart.
Cowley said Grant was “excellent”, before adding: “The thing with Karlan is he had obviously come off the back of an injury, I had to rush him back on Saturday [last week against Swansea] because of Fraizer's [Campbell] illness, but he always finishes games. He's always able to play 90 minutes.
“Credit to him because he's got a real appetite and a hunger to do that. Not all of your attacking players can do that physically, or mentally, but he can.
“He got his rewards today, which is really pleasing, in the 88th minute because of all of his endeavour and all of his hard work.
“The fact that he kept himself out there, even though his calves were screaming, meant that he got that.
“That was a really good goal. I liked that third goal.”
Cowley also lauded former Millwall defender Harry Toffolo, who was released by the club without having played a single competitive game before joining him at Lincoln City in 2018.
Toffolo, 24, played an important part in their promotion-winning campaign from League Two that season, culminating in him being selected into the PFA League Two team of the year.
The Terriers boss added: “This time last year he was playing in League Two and for him now to not just live in the Championship, but do well in the Championship, is credit to him because you would not meet a more humble boy than him.
“He's a lovely, lovely kid. He's only a baby himself, he's got two kids, but he's so mature for his years and always looking to add and improve to his game.”
