Lee Bowyer is hoping Darren Pratley will be fit enough to face relegation rivals Middlesbrough next weekend.
The midfielder, who has been ever-present for the Addicks this season, has missed the last six games with a back problem.
He was unavailable for the heavy 4-0 defeat to relegation rivals Huddersfield Town but might be in contention next Saturday when 22nd-placed Boro visit The Valley.
Bowyer said: “He's got a bad back, but again he's one that we've got to assess. I've not been there since Tuesday, I think, so I don't know how he's getting on.
“Hopefully he'll be around for next weekend because we definitely miss him.”
Another player who did not feature was defender Naby Sarr, who was unavailable for the 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday due to a calf issue.
Sarr, 26, enjoyed a run the team which saw him register three assists in six league games but it is not yet known whether he is fit enough for next weekend.
Bowyer added: “I don't know. We're going to have to keep assessing him and see how his calf is. We'll have to wait on that one.”
