Bromley manager Neil Smith held no punches when assessing his side’s 2-0 home defeat to Wrexham.
The Ravens fell to a fine Davis Keilor-Dunn solo effort and a late Jordan Ponticelli goal to the leave the Hayes Lane outfit ninth in the league after a run of just one point out of a possible 21.
A clearly frustrated Smith admitted he was left looking for answers from his side who earlier in the season looked nailed on contenders for promotion.
“I’m fuming, angry,” he said.
“They know they’ve let everybody down.
“As a manager I take full responsibility and have to make sure that never happens again.
“Bromley Football Club, we are on 51 points, which is enough to stay up, we haven’t got to fear anything.
“Last season we had 60 points, 70 is the most we’ve ever got, I don’t know why we look so anxious.
“We’ve big experienced players on that pitch.
“We were playing against a Wrexham side fighting for their lives.
“They wanted it more than us today. That hasn’t happened a lot for us.
“I’m disappointed and we need to sort it out.”
Bromley host London rivals next Sutton next weekend, themselves winless in five, in a game that can’t come soon enough for the Ravens boss.
“I want a game Tuesday.
“It’s a long week to dwell on that performance.
“I can go over every individual aspect it wasn’t good enough.
“We’ve got to make sure we are up for it next week, this same bunch of boys need to liven themselves up.”
Smith’s disappointment stems from his belief in his players, players that had fired Bromley the summit of the Conference Premier earlier in the season.
“I want them to play to their potential, their ability, I know they’re good.
“They wouldn’t be in the situation we are if we played like we were earlier this season.
“They need to grab their chance, they’re waiting for someone else to take responsibly.
“It’s easy when we’re winning, but when it’s not going well, who’s going to stand up and be counted?”
