Lee Bowyer fears he may not be able to field 11 senior players when Charlton travel to face Luton Town next Tuesday.
Josh Cullen became the latest addition to a growing injury list when he was taken off on a stretcher in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.
Deji Oshilaja and Erhun Oztumer, who replaced Naby Sarr and Darren Pratley for the visit of the Bluebirds, also suffered knocks in the lunchtime clash.
Bowyer is already without Ben Amos, Chuks Aneke, Jake Forster-Caskey, Jonny Williams, Lewis Page, Sam Field and Tomer Hemed – and will now need to rely on youngsters Alfie Doughty and Albie Morgan to get through.
He said: “[Cullen] did something to his ankle, that’s all I know now. He’s in a boot. I’ll have more of an idea within the next 24, 48 hours [to assess] the seriousness of it. Just got to wait and see now.
“Deji got a cramp but we just didn’t have anyone to put on, and then Ozzie [Oztumer] just took some whacks. Someone just booted him.
“To go Tuesday, I don’t know if we’ve got 11 senior players to put out there on Tuesday [against Luton Town]. I won’t know until tomorrow or Monday. They don’t look good whatever way you want to dress it up because we’d do well to put out 11.”
Beram Kayal, who was one of several Charlton players away on international duty, is currently sidelined after picking up a groin problem with Israel.
Bowyer said Taylor was “touch and go” in the lead-up to the Cardiff clash but still feels he is not ready yet to return.
He added: “I’d love to say Lyle was on the bench on Tuesday but, at this present time, he’s just not quite ready. He’s close, but he’s just not quite ready and we can’t take the risk.
“At this present time, we [had] 13 senior players fit before today. Obviously lost Josh, and Pratley comes back, so it’s like-for-like. It just depends on Deji and Ozzie, whether we can take the risks with them to start them again.
“Adam Matthews hasn’t played much so I think it’d be stupid to play him but it’s come to the point now where it’s like you have no choice.
“You have to play them and just pray they don’t get injured.”
Had Conor Gallagher and Tom Lockyer been booked in the draw with Cardiff then Bowyer would have faced further problems.
Both players are currently sitting on four yellow cards, and one more will see them serve an automatic one-match suspension like Pratley.
Bowyer joked: “Can you imagine if Tom and Conor got booked today? We’d probably have had eight senior players!”
