Fitness is the key for Naby Sarr according to Lee Bowyer.
The centre-back has been in fine form recently and capped off a stunning few months with a superb free kick at Wimbledon last weekend.
The 25-year-old has received plaudits from coaches and fans alike, but his transformation into an ‘undroppable’ centre-half is all down to hard work according to the manager.
“He’s got all the attributes but he needed to lose weight,” said Bowyer.
“He was overweight pre-season.
“The intensity of our training is very high, and he’s got fitter and fitter,
“He’s doing extra training, and if you do that, he’s going to lose weight like he has and he will improve.
“It was tough, but we’ve kept on top of him.
“Naby, he’s improved so much and taken everything on board that we’ve told him.
“No one can question what he can do with his feet, but we wanted him to get more physical and to get more nasty, because that’s what you need to be as a centre-half in this country.”
