Palace are short of strikers.

No surprise there.

It’ll come as no further shock then that they have been linked to nearly every striker across the country.

One name that has generated interest, and plausibly so, is that of QPR’s Eberechi Eze.

And the 20-year-old’s name was mooted even louder after Alexander Sorloth’s loan move to Gent was completed on Tuesday.

It’s known that Roy Hodgson doesn’t have huge funds to splash on a proven striker, and it’s more likely he’d be seeking a loan move if a ‘big’ name were to come available, but in Eze they would have enough in the coffers to make the move permanent.

It is thought a fee in the region of £5 million would be enough to tempt the R's in letting go of their man.

QPR's transfer embargo restricts the signing of first team players but unfortunately for Steve McLaren’s men there's no restriction on clubs who come calling for their prized assets.

Obviously the West London outfit will not want any players to depart this month, but such is the situation at Loftus Road that if a player’s valuation is met, it will have to be considered.

This would still be the case for Eze despite signing a three year deal last August.

The Millwall youth academy product is arguably the club's most valuable asset, and if they were to sell, QPR would be allowed to replace the talismanic front man with a free transfer.

Rumours are however that Palace have a long-term project with Eze and would be willing to loan him back to the R’s for the remainder of the season.

This move may not go down well with the Palace faithful as they’re desperate for a proven striker arriving this month, but it would most certainly lay plans for the future such is the potential of the tricky forward.
