The Aussie international was the only Lions player to be involved in the 2018 World Cup in Russia and despite not making an appearance the lack of rest has hindered the left backs start to the season.

He started the Lions first 14 games before being dropped for new recruit Murray Wallace for the games against Ipswich, Brentford and Norwich.

It was clear that the busy summer period had played a part in the Australians fitness as he was not following up with the solid performances the Lions fans were so used to seeing.

It should be noted that before having a well earned rest from the side, the full back had started 60 consecutive games for Millwall. It is easy to forget that he was playing in the conference back in 2009 but now having just turned 30, many are believing that last season was the pinnacle of his career.

Harris recalled him for the game against Birmingham and despite having an adequate performance he will be remembered for his own goal that gave the visitors the lead.

Many will be hoping that Meredith’s second half of the season will be more consistent as left-back is a position which Millwall are thin. Only time will tell if he is up to the challenge, if he is not he may well be replaced in the summer with a younger alternative.
