He is very rarely beaten, confident on the ball and is prepared to get Palace on the front foot by attacking from deep.

With Wilfried Zaha usually occupying the left flank, the duo combine at lightning speed and more often than not provide the most attractive football of the side.

Having picked up a couple of goals, one in the league cup and one in the away defeat at Bournemouth, he’ll be disappointed in his return at the season’s half-way mark and will surely want to put that right in the New Year.

Van Aanholt has been an ever present for Roy Hodgson forming a solid partnership at the back with Mamadou Sakho on the left side of defence.

He is however, capable of putting fans on edge with his eagerness to play football from the back, but he’s yet to be caught out and punished in possession so expect more of the same from the Dutchman.
