Charlton defender Chris Solly will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Addicks first-team captain, 27, has not played since damaging his right knee in the 1-0 defeat to Blackpool last month.
He will undergo exploratory key-hole surgery this week - and the full-back is targeting a pre-season return.
Solly, who has had knee troubles throughout his career, has made 28 appearances this season.
His absence has forced caretaker boss Lee Bowyer to play Anfernee Dijksteel and Ezri Konsa at right-back.
Meanwhile, Naby Sarr has recovered from an ankle problem and could be in contention for the Portsmouth trip on Saturday.
Charlton are two points from the top six and travel to third-placed Shrewsbury tonight.
