Charlton boss Karl Robinson has explained why new loan signing Stephy Mavididi struggled at Preston.
The Addicks re-signed Mavididi from Arsenal yesterday after impressing at the Valley last term.
The versatile forward failed to hit the ground running with Championship side Preston in the first half of the 2017/18 campaign - and Robinson hopes the 19-year-old rediscovers his form in SE7.
He told News Shopper: “Sometimes, certain places don't suit certain players. Sometimes you can go in and [it doesn't work].
“I think he did so well here. I watched him four times in the summer and I knew there were so many clubs chasing him.
“But you've seen how good he can be, he’s going to be a great asset to us. He’s a great kid.

“We hope we can get him back on track. I’m sure he’ll come in with a point to prove.
“I spoke to him this morning and it was nice to see him. That was a bonus this morning.”
Charlton only have one fit senior striker in Josh Magennis, who hasn't scored in 10 games.
And with the news that Leon Best is out for up to 12 months after suffering a serious knee injury, Mavididi could be thrown in at the deep end against Oldham on Saturday.
Robinson added: “I shouldn't see why he isn’t fit to start. He’s been training and playing games in the Championship and playing reserve games.
“So he should be 100 per cent fit to start.”
Mavididi made 11 appearances for Preston, starting just four times.
