Charlton have signed Ben Reeves on a two-year deal.

Reeves, who was chased by Championship clubs, knows Addicks boss Karl Robinson well from their days at MK Dons.

The Northern Ireland midfielder helped Robinson’s side win promotion from League One in 2015.

In May, News Shopper revealed that Charlton had offered Reeves a contract. But the playmaker wanted time to think about his next move after leaving MK Dons.

And this transfer saga has finally ended, with Robinson getting his man.

He said: “He is someone that has won a Player of the Year award and a promotion with me, so I know him very well.

“He knows the system I play, knows me and he knows what we are trying to achieve here. 

“I want to thank the board. This was a deal they really wanted to do as well, and it was one that was really backed by the club.”

Reeves started his career at Southampton, before Robinson brought him to MK Dons in 2013.

And during his time with the Dons, Reeves became one of the most sought-after midfielders in League One.

He said: “It feels great to sign. It’s done now - that’s the most important thing - and now I can really focus on the football side of things. 

“I know Karl really well. The relationship between managers and players is really important and hopefully Karl can lead us in the right direction and I want to be part of that.”

Charlton chief executive Katrien Meire added: “Ben is someone that Karl knows very well and highlighted from an early stage as a player he wanted to bring to the club.

“It is no secret we tried to sign him in January. We are very pleased to get the deal done ahead of the new season.”
