Charlton are on the brink of signing a striker and a midfielder - with both players undergoing medicals today.
Russell Slade refused to name either player but News Shopper understands the striker is Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference at Sparrows Lane, Slade said: “We’re working exceptionally hard to bring a couple of bodies in.
“We’re on the verge of something quite exciting at the minute with a couple of additions.
“We’ve been patient and it’s not our way to go scattergun approach – we want to get the right fits who we think will prove to be assets for the football club.
“We’re getting close, they’re both doing medicals. It’s not 100 per cent done yet but that tells you how close they are.”
When asked by News Shopper whether he was able to reveal the positions of the new arrivals, Slade said: “I’ll give you the positions – one is a striker and one is a wide midfield player.”
