Charlton Athletic will monitor the fitness of Harry Lennon and Johann Berg Gudmundsson this week, with both doubts for the Leeds game on Saturday, News Shopper understands.

The duo were both substituted during the desperate 3-2 defeat against Brighton on Saturday.

Lennon, who was recalled from his loan spell at Gillingham two weeks ago, earned a start at the Amex Stadium but was replaced after only 30 minutes due to a head injury.

The 20-year-old suffered concussion and was treated with several stiches after suffering a cut to his forehead.

Since Tottenham controversially allowed Hugo Lloris to continue playing after he lost consciousness in a goalless draw against Everton last season, regulations have been tightened over injuries of this nature.

The severity of symptoms which Lennon demonstrated generally ease within seven days, meaning the club’s medical team may have to make a late decision on whether he is fit enough to face Leeds at the Valley.

Gudmundsson, 25, rolled over on his ankle on 75 minutes against Brighton and will be monitored this week.

Meanwhile, skipper Johnnie Jackson is expected to be fit enough to return at the weekend.

The 33-year-old was brought off in the first-half against Ipswich last week and missed the fixture against Championship leaders Brighton.

Saturday was deemed too soon for Jackson, who suffered a hamstring problem, but the influential midfielder should feature against 17th-placed Leeds.
