Guy Luzon says Charlton are still on the lookout for a new forward after failing to sign one on transfer deadline day.

The Addicks head coach had made no secret of his desire to snap up an attacker in the build-up to Monday’s deadline.

That failed to happen in the end and now the Israeli boss will have to hope the loan market produces a suitable candidate to boost the club’s striking options.

Asked this lunchtime why they hadn’t been able to get a deal done on Monday, Luzon replied: “It not only depends on me - it depends on the market, it depends on the option that we had, and it depends also on the financial terms.

“For now we don’t find the one that we want to bring in. If we find the one he is not available.

“We will wait for the next window. We will see.

“Our scouts are searching for one who can help us and if we find him and he will agree to come then he will come.”

Charlton had let George Tucudean go last week with the expectation a replacement would come in, meaning they now have even fewer available forwards.

Luzon added: “I said George leaves and we need to bring in another one and we know it.

“We will work on it.”
