Ian Holloway has called for his side to make a fast start against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Last week’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth was just the latest fixture in which Millwall have recovered from a losing position, and Holloway wants them to avoid needing to do so again.
“I wanna get away from a little bit of hesistancy, and sluggish starts,” he said.
“And prove to the lads that if we can commit to what we do, and we keep making the right choices – putting the ball where we need to – which makes us look a good team when we score goals, I believe we can get some wins that we want.
“We’re not far off it, we’ve had six draws out of nine, I think it is.
“It’s a tad frustrating for everybody but the great thing is the spirit’s still there, we still believe in ourselves but we need to start as if we’re already behind in our minds because you’re a little bit more relaxed.
“When we are behind we remember exactly what makes us a good team so hopefully the slight tinkering we spoke about, the slight information I’ve managed to show ‘em after last game…
“When we do do it, we look a really good team and pin people in.
“It’s all about being consistent and trying to get that in this level.
“Plenty of the right attitude, but let’s make sure we understand where I want the ball, where it’s gotta go, what we do behind it, and pin teams in if we can, particularly at The Den.”
Promotion-chasing Middlesbrough visit The Den knowing victory could take them into the top two.
