Charlton captain Johnnie Jackson believes his side should have beaten Ipswich during their 1-0 defeat on Saturday.
Debutant Noel Hunt secured a 95th-minute winner for Mick McCarthy’s team in a game where Charlton had 21 shots on goal but didn't manage to score.
Jackson, who played for 76 minutes before being substituted for Lawrie Wilson, was frustrated at his side's inability to grab all three points by converting their chances.
“First-half was probably the best we’ve played in a long while," he said.
“We certainly created a lot of chances – some good goalscoring opportunities that we haven’t taken.
“It was very disappointing to concede so late and lose a game that we probably think we should have won.”
Ipswich climbed to second in the Championship following their victory, but Jackson is yet to be convinced they will remain there.
“On the balance of play and what I saw today, they aren’t one of the best sides, but they are hardworking, organised and they have got a goal threat,” he said.
“On paper they are a good side but I wasn’t blown away by them.
“I think we’ve played better footballing sides, but they won, so they won’t care what I think.
“It’s a good away performance from their point of view. Bit of a smash and grab, but if you can’t score, you won’t win.
“You take the positives that were created. Good goalscoring opportunities against a good team.
“We haven’t created that much in a game for a long while and they have one of the best defensive records so from that point of view it’s encouraging.
“You can’t dwell on it, we have another tough game this week (against Nottingham Forest).
“If you are creating those amount of chances, one day you’re going to stick a few away.”
Bob Peeters was critical of Tal Ben Haim for conceding possession in the build-up to Ipswich’s winner, which he described as "unforgivable", but Jackson is adamant no individual was responsible for the defeat.
“I think on reflection he may look at it and say it was a poor decision,” he said.
“But we don’t finger point, we win and lose together and there were a lot of reasons today why we lost. It wasn’t just that incident.
“I’m not just blaming the strikers here, because we’ve had a lot of chances all over the pitch, but we missed too many chances today.
“Collectively we deal with it, we don’t single out people.”
