Bob Peeters hopes to sign a new striker, but not before Thursday’s loan window closes at 5pm.
Charlton at the weekend drew 0-0 with Millwall when Igor Vetokele played as the lone frontman.
The closing of the loan window represents the final chance to recruit before the New Year but Peeters is determined to wait until January to find the right player.
“We are looking for another striker, but for me the important thing is to sign a striker who will be quality.
“You saw we brought in Francis Coquelin – he’s a quality player and he’s strengthening our team.
“For me, that’s the most important thing.
“We are looking for a good striker but that costs a lot of money, and we don’t want to be one of the teams who’s bringing in a striker to make the fans content.
“We’re looking, but we want to bring in a striker like we did with Igor Vetokele where the fans think ‘Woah, what a signing that is’.
“We’re hoping to do it (in January) but it depends on the price and availability.
“We’re looking for players – the scouts know the profile we want but it’s not an easy task to get a good striker.”
