Ian Holloway still hopes to recruit a striker before Thursday’s loan deadline passes at 5pm.

Millwall have so far this season scored only 19 goals in 18 Championship fixtures and on Saturday travel to Dean Court to face second-placed Bournemouth.

“I’ve never known a situation like it,” said the manager, who earlier this week sent Matias Ranegie back to parent club Watford

“Other Championship clubs have got people they won’t loan out to us because they’ll see us as a threat.

“This is the worst window you’ll ever get.

“If I could bring in some extra firepower now Ranegie’s gone back I would.

“And if I can get some extra experience for one or two of the young fellows, who I love their capability – I’ve got to work on their behaviour to be able to get them on a regular performance – I might do that.

“Other than that, if I can add to that goals tally I would, but can I? Will we?

“We’re trying, but whether I can or not, I really don’t know.”

Holloway insisted he hadn’t had enquiries about his senior players so doesn’t expect any to depart but hopes some of his younger players can be loaned out to gain some experience.

“I’m really excited about some of the young lads for next year but they need to get experience,” he said.

“We’ve had John Marquis here who hasn’t been let out enough - he gets very frustrated and it holds him back a little bit so I’ve tried to do it with him.

“Aiden O’Brien’s been out and I’ve had a look at him, he’s played very well in the first team, and I’ve got Fred Onyedinma who’s at the other end of it.

“I might loan him out so he can have five or six games over Christmas so I can get him ready for what I want. That’s where we are.”
