Ian Holloway has revealed a lack of effort forced him to terminate Mathias Ranegie’s loan spell.
Ranegie, 30, who arrived at Millwall from Watford in August, started only three times for the club.
The striker had been scheduled to remain at The Den until January 1 but returned to Vicarage Road earlier this week amid reports of an injury.
“We’ve got GPS stuff that tells us every day what the lads do,” said Holloway.
“I’ve got certain standards and certain levels that I demand they all train to - and it was very clear that his times and his stats weren’t good enough so I’ve sent him home.
“The fact is, he didn’t reach the standards that I’ve set.
“His level of work-rate – and what he does in training – his GPS told me it’s not acceptable for me.”
