Ian Holloway praised Millwall’s efforts after Saturday’s hard-fought 0-0 draw at Charlton.
The visitors defended resolutely, while Charlton dominated possession, to earn the valuable draw that keeps them above the relegation zone in 18th.
“Yes, very,” Holloway replied when asked if he was pleased with a point.
“It was a good game, I thought. Two good teams, shows you what the Championship’s all about.
“I thought the players conducted themselves brilliantly, went for everything fairly. It was a very enjoyable game.
“It led to an entertaining 0-0, so let’s get on with the next one, really.”
George Tucudean almost secured victory for Charlton when coming agonisingly close in the final minutes but Holloway believes defeat would have been harsh on his side.
“The way things have been going, Charlton would have scored and everything would have been terrible, wouldn’t it? And would we have deserved it?
“In that move I felt there was a foul and an offside because I’m a little bit biased, and Alan Dunne was absolutely magnificent.
“What does a derby mean to that boy, he’s only ever played for Millwall.
“All around it’s a good day.
“I’m sure Bob Peeters will be pleased with his team’s effort. He’ll be fuming that he hasn’t won and broken that 18-year duck.
“Well they haven’t played us for 13 of those 18 years. ‘You can’t beat Millwall’, it’s brilliant.
“Let’s hope we can sing that at every ground we’re at for the rest of the season and we might have a better season.
“I can’t ask anymore from my lads there.
“I felt they understood their task, they stuck to it, and over recent weeks, when we haven’t got what we wanted, they still came back and showed the character you need to.
“From my point of view it’s going to be a brilliant season for everyone who’s in the Championship.
“Can Charlton make the play-offs? Who knows? Can we have a run? Who knows?
“Obviously if I’d lost, I’d be spitting venom, because would we have really deserved it?
“Did either team do enough to score, with their possession? Probably not.
“But hopefully people have gone home very entertained, feeling they got their money’s worth, because there was some good football out there, some good players out there on show and both teams wanted to win it.”
Holloway again reiterated his admiration for captain Alan Dunne, whose committed display contributed significantly to his side’s clean sheet.
“What can I say about Alan Dunne?” he asked.
“He’s a fantastic fellow.
“Since I’ve been here, he tells the truth, he works hard. He knows about honesty and loyalty, he’s been fantastic for me.
“He can play in numerous positions. He doesn’t really like right-back now to be honest, because that fellow they brought on (Charlton winger Callum Harriott) has got a few more tricks than Paul Daniels.
“Dunney would rather be inside so those people wouldn’t take him on.
“But he’ll do anything for me, so I’m delighted for him.
“We haven’t deserved what we’ve got recently, and today, it’s nice to not be beat.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it – fantastic game.”
