Ian Holloway wants to extend Millwall’s impressive run over Charlton in Saturday’s south-east London derby.
Millwall last lost to their rivals in 1996 and have won and drawn three of the last six fixtures between the two.
“Yeah, of course it is,” Holloway responded when asked if it was important to maintain that run.
“There’s no guaranteeing that, is there?
“What you have to do is guarantee you’re going to give the work-rate that every football supporter deserves with the price that they pay for their ticket, and the commitment that they give.”
The Championship resumes after the international break in which Holloway was inspired by the efforts of Scotland and Millwall's manager has demanded similar commitment from his players.
“I find it interesting that I’ve seen two games last week that I thought were real,” he said.
“I watched Scotland play twice, once against England, once against Ireland. I thought those two games were absolutely brilliant.
“Not one player rolled about, not one player dived anywhere, every one of them was committed, the referee let things go as it used to be and I thoroughly enjoyed both games.
“That’s what you’ve got to try and produce.
“You’ve got to make things entertaining - and your players have got to care.
“I’ve never been at such a passionate club in my life.
“Never – and I’m absolutely loving it.”
