The defeat against Brentford now seems a while ago with the welcome international break coming just in time.

I for one was pleased to see another break, but it’s now time for the Lions to bounce back this weekend in the south-east London derby against Charlton.

Ian Holloway will be looking to avoid the costly set piece mistakes that have been so damaging over the last few games and let’s hope there will be no more talk about referees and we will be praising the football.

News of Scott McDonald’s injury will cause a headache for the manager, as the forward is a doubt for the Charlton game.

I would like to predict the starting line-up for Saturday but sadly I feel I need a crystal ball.

Criticisms have been made on social media regarding the constant tinkering of the team and I believe a settled side is a winning side.

In the Charlton dugout is former Lion Bob Peeters.

The striker scored three league goals in 25 games for the Lions but on Saturday he is the enemy.

Millwall have an excellent record against Charlton and have not lost to the Addicks since 1996.

The Lions, with 10 men for most of the game, came back from 3-2 and 4-3 down to rescue a point at The Valley in 2009 and have triumphed on their previous trips across south-east London.

Looking back to the Brentford game, Remembrance weekend was a great success at The Den.

Despite the Lions being out passed, out played and recording another defeat, before the game Millwall FC paid a great tribute to our servicemen and fallen soldiers marking a 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.

We also made history with a genius charity video and by wearing camouflaged commemorative shirts.

The 3-2 result was a fair one as the Bees were firmly on top throughout, with Holloway admitting his side are four years behind Mark Warburton’s team.

The second half did prove value for money as two goals in four minutes briefly gave the Lions hope and swept away the tumbleweeds.

It seems to be all too over familiar at The Den seeing the Lions claw back large deficits as over the last month we have been two or three goals down and then pulled out an exciting comeback to claim draws or near defeats - but not yet the ultimate comeback.

I want to highlight two different points now.

Firstly, if we go back to the Huddersfield game, Chris Powell spoke about Millwall statistics and said afterwards he knew if his men could contain the Lions and go in level at the break, his team would have a good chance of picking up three points.

Powell pointed out that stats showed prior to that match the Lions started their games very strongly and then faded in the second half.

This stat is alarming as what Powell predicted did come true and also highlights the point that a game is about two halves and a full 90 minutes.

The irony of this stat is that it has now been reversed in the last three games.

In contrast, the Lions have started sluggish and not until they have fallen behind and have been on the ropes before they really have started to play.

How in such a short period of time have we completely turned around what Powell deemed to be the previous template for the Lions?

Also, where is the consistency for 90 minutes and how can another manager draw such a conclusion?

On Lions Live radio a listener emailed to suggest we need a hypnotherapist and right now I wouldn't say no to this.

Maybe if the boys were to be hypnotised to be two or three goals down at the start of the game, they may just come out fighting and pick up that win.

It’s so frustrating as a spectator and a reporter to see us on the ropes before stepping up and playing the football we know Ollie's team are capable of.

I believe Millwall have the quality, right tools and are fully equipped in the Championship.

But right now there is far too much inconsistency and this is proving costly without the basic errors of poor defending, conceding from free-kicks and no conviction up front.

Although I feel rather negative regarding recent results and performances, I do think we will bounce back on Saturday and the international break was a blessing.

On tomorrow’s Lions Live we will be speaking to star man Lee Martin and looking back to Brentford and forward to Charlton.

We will also be giving you a chance to a win a box of Lions Live goodies, so why not get involved by having your say and come and join me.
