Ian Holloway is searching far and wide to boost Millwall’s striking options ahead of the new season.
The Lions boss has already snapped up non-league goal machine Lee Gregory from FC Halifax but knows he is still short of numbers following the summer departures of Stefan Maierhofer, Simeon Jackson and Steve Morison.
Despite still having some attackers at his disposal, Ollie knows his front line remains lacking in some departments – something he is prepared to put right by searching the European market if needs be.
“The good thing is knowing what you want and the type of players you need,” the manager explained.
“We know exactly what that is and we’ve targeted some.
“Whether we get them or not we will have to wait and see but we’ve also targeted others that might be available.
“I’m also scouring the rest of Europe just in case because we need some specific things.
“We need to be able to deal with the ball from back to front.
“Up front we’ve lost Stefan Maierhofer, we’ve lost Steve Morison and Lee Gregory isn’t that type.
“Jermaine Easter, Martyn Woolford and Lee Martin aren’t that type so I know what type I need.
“We are working on it.”
Holloway also insists he will not be rushed into signing any of his targets.
The boss said: “I will leave it late if I have to.
“I know what I need and I’m going to try and get it.
“The later it gets people will be doing what I’m doing – assessing their youngsters and seeing if they are close to the squad.
“If they are then great. If not then they will be loaned out and then we might need one or two more when people are doing they exact same thing.
“I will also decide about loan signings coming in because we’ve also got that market.”
