Reza Ghoochannejhad became the first ever Charlton player to score at a World Cup this week and Addicks boss Bob Peeters is backing him to prosper this season.
The 26-year-old was on target in Iran’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bosnia on Wednesday, a result which sadly ended his country’s interest in the competition.
Reza has so far struggled to make much of an impact since arriving in SE7 from Standard Liege in late January but his new club manager is expecting a big improvement now the forward is more familiar with the English game.
He said: “I always found Reza was a good player when he was in Belgium.
“Then he came to Charlton but I know as a foreigner when you go abroad it takes some time to settle.
“I think now that has finished and hopefully he can come back fit after the World Cup.
“He has got a lot of qualities and he is a guy I’d like to work with.”
