Millwall boss Ian Holloway is pleased with Jimmy Abdou’s response to being left out of the first team in recent weeks.
Before being recalled to the starting line-up against Birmingham last week, Abdou had not featured in the previous eight games, despite playing in Holloway's first three matches.
But since returning to the fold in the 3-2 Blues defeat, the Comoros international has played every minute of Millwall’s last two games.
“I was happy with his response to not being in the team,” Holloway said.
“Jimmy is just a wonderful fella.
“I’ve put him back in the team and we still haven’t won. We’ve got to win.
“Jimmy is loved by the crowd - they love him.”
Abdou scored the decisive goal which sent the Lions to the 2009 play-off final and since then has become something of a cult hero at The Den.
But Ollie added no player gets preferential treatment and that every member of his squad needs to be appreciated but the Millwall faithful.
The manager said: “I need the crowd to love everybody the same. I’ve got no favourites in my kids.
“I don’t give anybody an ice cream if they don’t deserve it. I want all my players thought about in the same way if possible.
“Jimmy’s commitment to the cause is completely and utterly outstanding.
“I had him at Plymouth and I’ve given him a chance to play and when I don’t pick him, he responds in a brilliant way as well.
“He’s a wonderful player.
“Unfortunately we’ve still dropped points so we hope that changes.”
