STEVE Lomas is determined to keep David Forde and Liam Trotter at The Den.
The duo have just one year remaining on their current deals but the Lions chief feels the spine of his squad is already in place to build a good side and is desperate to kick on with the players already at the club.
“We don’t want David to go,” Lomas said.
“Fordey loves it at Millwall and his family are settled.
“I know him and he is the type of player I want.
“Any manager who comes in wants to keep their best players.
“I certainly won’t be looking to get rid of Forde or Liam Trotter.
“They are in their last year but that happens at every club.
“I think Liam is a 12 goal a season man from midfield going forward.”
Millwall’s lack of goals in the second half of last season saw them slip dangerously close to the relegation zone and Lomas knows it is the key area to work on this summer.
Reports have linked the Lions with free agent Simeon Jackson but the former Norwich forward is just one of a number of players the new boss is looking at.
Lomas said: “No matter what you say, you have to score goals.
“For every manager that is the hardship.
“I haven’t spoken to Simeon yet.
“Someone asked me about him and I think he is a good player of that type, as are 15 or so others on the list, the type that can come in and improve us.”
