CRYSTAL Palace manager Ian Holloway feels it is still all to play for after the Eagles were held 0-0 by Brighton in tonight’s play-off semi-final first leg encounter.

Brighton looked the more likely side in the opening period, but Palace improved after the break, although they were dealt a massive blow midway through the second half when Glenn Murray was stretchered off with a cruciate ligament injury.

Despite losing their top scorer, Holloway believes his side can go into Monday’s second leg at the AMEX stadium with nothing to fear.

The Selhurst chief said: “All we didn’t do was score.

“I felt they (Brighton) started quite well in the first half and we got off on the front foot in the second half and had two cleared off the line.

“That’s what happens in games like this so it is all still to play for.

“I don’t know what games you’ve been watching lately but that one wasn’t bad.

“It was pretty tense and two half decent teams that will know what is at risk.”

Holloway added: “I thought they had a really good chance in the first half (Dean Hammond’s header).

“I thought they looked very confident, they moved the ball well but we got to grips with that and I thought we looked half decent in the second half to be honest.

“Switching Wilf and Jonny worked. Wilf didn’t get much out of Bridge but he certainly did down the other side against Calderon.

“Jonny almost got on the end of that cross and then we’ve had two cleared off the line so all to fight for and all to play for.”

On the seriousness of Murray’s injury, Holloway said: “We are not sure at the moment.

“Obviously the doctors have had a good look at it, we will have to get a scan.

“It was just bizarre really. It looked like he tried to turn, he twisted and he felt he was tackled but there was no-one near him to tackle him so it could be all sorts of things.

“We’re not sure yet.

“The doctor feels it might be something wrong with his cruciate but we don’t know what that is so obviously he is going to be out for Monday.”

But the news is much better on Jonny Williams after he was forced off with 14 minutes remaining and replaced by Wilfried Zaha.

Holloway added: “He completely cramped up.

“I think that is his age, I think that is the amount of games he has missed over the last year and a half.

“He should be OK but literally he couldn’t walk when we go him off.”
