MILLWALL were beaten 1-0 at home by Nottingham Forest today and manager Kenny Jackett admitted afterwards his struggling side hadn’t done enough to rescue a point.
Greg Halford headed home Andy Reid’s eighth minute corner to settle the game in Forest’s favour and inflict a third straight defeat on the Lions.
Jackett said: “It was a poor goal to give away from a set piece with Halford’s header, but there was plenty of time to get back into it.
“I can’t fault the effort and the commitment from the players , it was definitely there.
“I felt somewhere along the line we needed a break and just something to fall to us.
“We had a lot of the ball, a lot of pressure against a very talented Notts Forest side.
“When they do break they have a lot of quality, particularly in midfield.
“Their strikers if they do get the opportunities can finish them.
“I was looking for the one player that could maybe beat his man or maybe get the other side of people or be able to turn and go past somebody and take someone out of the game, whether that be in a wide area or up front.
“But creatively we just couldn’t find that player that could perhaps get the other side of his man and deliver that cross perhaps and score that goal.”
He added: “I also felt though that there was a good effort by the players and somewhere along the line over the last couple of games we haven’t quite got a break that could have added to our points total.
“Different things were going through my mind, different substitutions and permutations of players.
“I thought young George Saville showed very well and playing in an advanced midfield role was a positive for us.
“But we just have to keep going and make sure we find the right combinations of players, which is important, perhaps get one or two fresh ones in and make sure in terms of players finding their rhythm and coming back from injury we do help them as much as we possibly can to be able to play well.
“Ultimately it is a disappointment because you need to score goals at home.
“Creatively we weren’t quite there today.”
