IAN Holloway acknowledged it was a relief to finally see his Crystal palace side rediscover their scoring touch in today’s 2-2 draw with play-off rivals Leicester.

The Eagles had been on a goal drought stretching back to the 2-2 draw with Leeds on March 9, but it was finally ended in the 26th minute by Danny Gabbidon’s header.

Leicester drew level before the break thanks to Andy King before the advantage was restored midway through the second half by Stephen Dobbie.

However, an error by Damien Delaney six minutes later gifted Chris Wood an equaliser and a share of the spoils, something the Palace boss accepted was frustrating afterwards.

Holloway said: “I was just disappointed with the last goal I must admit.

“I think it looked like another mistake and we’ve got to eradicate them really at this time of the year, but it is another point to our target.

“Let’s get on with it and see what happens.# “It is a relief to have stopped what has happened.

“I think you could see a total difference in what we did there, I thought I just want to simplify it and to hit it towards your front two, and they both worked hard and got hold of it, and then get your two wide men joining.

“It is a little bit like they played before I came here and obviously we’ve got to try and get some solace and get back to what we do and I felt we did.

“Wilbraham put a right good shift in and was unlucky when he hit the bar with a header, another one it looked like he might have got a penalty but headed down.”

Hollloway added: “I can’t say it was the prettiest but at this moment in time it is not about that, it is about the lads giving them something to believe in and I thought we did that.

“I thought we all worked hard, myself, my staff and the boys to try and show the fans we reaslly care and we want to try and get in those play-offs.

“That’s the most important thing of all and it is the mind set of everything and everybody.

“If we’d have won 10 in a row now and just climbed into this position everything is on the up, but at the moment it is the other way round and people are disappointed that ‘you should have done this’ or ‘you should have done that’.

“Well, until you’ve done anything why even talk about it? It’s only a possibility.

“At the start of today we could have gone five points above them in fourth place and if that isn’t good enough I don’t know what is to be perfectly blunt when you were 17th last year.

“I’m not going to make excuses for anybody. We’ve got to dig in and fight because the last point you need to get into that play-off isn’t easy to get.

“I’ve had two seasons lately in the Championship and that’s what I’ve managed to do so I should know all about it.

“Yes I’m with a different team but so what.

“I’ve got to help these lads through it and I’ll be calm no matter what, no problem.”
