REGARDING your front page story about Cllr Stephen Padmore the missing Lewisham Labour councillor (Has Anyone Seen This Councillor? News Shopper, July 4).
It was suggested by Lewisham's Labour Mayor that Cllr Padmore might have been unwell.
However, he was well enough to attend the first item of a meeting on June 7.
By attending a meeting for less than one hour, Cllr Padmore has ensured he is qualified to continue for another six months as a councillor.
The £4,906 basic allowance he has received for that meeting was for less than one hour sitting listening to a planning application.
Not a bad hourly rate.
Cllr Chris Maines
Lewisham Council Liberal Democrats
