The September meeting of Greenwich's full council was cancelled to reduce unnecessary expenditure.
Far from being disrespectful to taxpayers, it was cancelled because it is not a good use of money to stage meetings without a full agenda.
Representatives from all parties were consulted about the cancellation.
There are regular meetings of the cabinet and other committees where the Press and public are invited.
While full council meetings are important, we should focus on using the best means to engage with our constituents, rather than wasting resources on meetings for the sake of it.
Cllr Harry Singh Mayor of Greenwich
